Wood Furniture | Students will learn the use of hand woodworking tools and techniques to build a box with traditional hand cut dovetail joinery and implement other skills. |
Blacksmithing
Blacksmithing, an essential trade in early American life and settling of the west, is an art still available through a few artisans. Through the processes of forging, drawing, bending, upsetting, and punching students will make and temper a cold chisel and a punch. With these basis tools they will fabricate blacksmith projects in the class. |
Wood Furniture ll
Students will build an advanced woodworking project in this class. This class focuses on traditional hand tool joinery techniques. Each year the students will build a different project. Many students take this workshop year after year. |
Furniture Refinishing
In this workshop students will bring their own furniture item that they plan to refinish. By refinishing their project under the direction of an expert refinisher, students learn valuable refinishing techniques and leave the class with their refurbished piece of furniture. Students will also observe the refinishing of other students’ projects. |
